INTRODUCTION

Skill development plays a crucial role in socio economic development of the society as it creates employment opportunities, enhances productivity and contributes to growth of economy and reduces poverty.


India as a country has a demographic advantage as most of its population are in the working group and in a better position when compared with other countries. But having said that, skill shortages have to be addressed through meaningful interventions.


Government of India has set up National Skill Development Commission and has taken up several initiatives for the development of Youth. Pearltri Foundation’s efforts towards skill development will complement the existing initiatives in the country and will address the needs of the unemployed youth.

METHODOLOGY

Engage

We mobilize youth through various channels including awareness campaigns, counselling sessions, door to door campaigns, advertisements etc. Interested Youth are enrolled into our programs based on their interests/educational qualifications etc.

Educate

We offer courses with a standardized curriculum blending theory and practical sessions by experts. Emphasis is on practical sessions, using the latest tools and technologies. Our curriculum is regularly updated to align with industry advancements.

Excel

We provide opportunities for youth to learn and enhance their skillsets through interaction with industry experts, internships, industry visits etc. Youth are also evaluated on a regular basis and continuous guidance is provided to help them improve.

Empower

We enable youth and provide them with access to job opportunities relevant to their skillset and qualifications. We help them prepare for the job opportunities and also support them post job placement and guide them until they settle down in their jobs.

OUR PROGRAMS

We provide opportunities for youth to enhance their skills through short term vocational skilling programs and help them find employment opportunities. We strongly believe that youth empowerment will lead to poverty reduction and reduce inequalities faced by youth from underrepresented communities.

We provide sewing machine operator training to women from economically backward sections of the society from the rural/urban regions. The training benefits women from the age group of 18-35 across several districts in Tamilnadu – Kanchipuram, Vellore, Chennai. The training is a short-term skilling program and includes both theory as well as practical classes. More emphasis is provided on the hands-on training and the training is delivered in local language for the benefit of the participants. The beneficiaries also undergo an assessment through an external agency at the end of the program and receive certificate as recognition of them completing the course. The trained beneficiaries are able to get employment opportunities in the nearby textile/garment factories. Most of the women who have enrolled for our programs are able to clear the assessment as well as secure gainful employment at the end of the program and are able to augment their family income.

The objective of this program is to empower youth with disabilities through skill development. Mostly the youth are trained on 21st century employability skills and some of them are trained on industrial training (fitter, mechanic etc) depending on the type of disability. This short-term skilling program is available for all genders and the program focusses mostly on practical skills. The program is offered across several locations including chennai, shimoga, Bangalore, Karaikudi and youth are able to secure employment opportunities on successful completion of the course. This course also includes an assessment by an external agency to validate the skills of the beneficiaries.

Automotive Service Technician caters to the needs of candidates from both rural/urban region interested to pursue a career in the ever-growing industry. Typically, youth in the age group of 19 – 25 with educational qualifications of 12th Std/ITI/Diploma etc enroll for this short-term course. The training is a short-term skilling program and includes both theory as well as practical classes. Beneficiaries get to practice/study different type of engines and equipment managed in the state-of-the-art lab facility. The beneficiaries are subjected to regular internal reviews and assessments. A final assessment through an external agency is organized at the end of the course. Placement sessions are arranged through partners there is a lot of demand for trained professions in this field. The training is currently organized across locations such as Chennai, Madurai and Kottayam. Beneficiaries get employed with both 2/3-wheeler manufacturing factories as well as dealers.

SHINE is a short-term skill development program designed to help unemployed graduates from rural regions to successfully launch career in the Information Technology sector. Candidates are mobilized through information campaigns organized through campaigns arranged in colleges and social media. This program is organized currently in 3 locations – Vellore, Erode and Salem. A state-of-the-art lab facility is set up in leading educational institutions where the course is delivered with experts from the IT industry. The course curriculum is designed to help the beneficiaries understand the fundamentals of software engineering and are trained on software languages/tools. The course requires full time dedication from the participants and the beneficiaries are selected through a rigorous interview process. Beneficiaries selected for the program are also provided with a monthly stipend of INR 5000. Hostel accommodation is provided to outstation candidates at subsidized rates in the premises of the educational institutions where the course is delivered. Most of our students are able to secure suitable job opportunities in the IT/ITES industry after completion of the course.

Based on their educational qualification and skills, they are able to find employment opportunities in retail stores, supermarkets, voice & non-voice-based call centers etc. This course also includes an assessment by an external agency to validate the skills of the beneficiaries.

CNC operator training is currently organized in Chennai considering the city as one of the biggest hubs for manufacturing industries. Typically, youth in the age group of 19 – 25 with educational qualifications of 12th Std/ITI/Diploma etc enroll for this short-term course. Theory classes are organized in a classroom set up while practical sessions are planned in partnership with the industry considering the need for detailed and rigorous training. Students spend quality time in a manufacturing set up and operate CNC machines to enhance their learning. As with all our courses, both internal reviews and external assessments are organized during the course. Successful candidates are provided with a certificate of recognition at the end of the course. Based on the profile of the candidate, suitable employment opportunities are lined up and assistance is provided to them to take up suitable job opportunities.

Typically, youth in the age group of 19 – 25 with educational qualifications of 12th Std/ITI/Diploma etc enroll for this short-term course. Theory classes are organized in a classroom set up while practical sessions are planned in partnership with the industry considering the need for detailed and rigorous training. Students spend quality time in a manufacturing set up and operate CNC machines to enhance their learning. As with all our courses, both internal reviews and external assessments are organized during the course. Successful candidates are provided with a certificate of recognition at the end of the course.
