Our Environment Programs focus on conservation, sustainability, and community awareness. Through tree plantation drives, clean-up campaigns, and water body restoration initiatives, we promote environmental stewardship and climate responsibility. Our efforts aim to preserve natural resources and build a greener, healthier planet for future generations.

We are committed to conserving natural resources and promoting sustainability through tree plantation drives, environmental awareness campaigns, and water body restoration. Urbanization has created a greater stress on the environment and natural resources and has resulted in decreased green cover.
Urban afforestation initiatives, including the Miyawaki method, help restore green cover in cities, improving air quality, supporting biodiversity, and reducing soil erosion. Rapid urbanization and pollution have severely impacted freshwater bodies. Our Lake Restoration project focuses on scientifically reviving lakes and ponds across India through community-based efforts. By collaborating with environmental organizations, we aim to create healthier ecosystems and a greener, more sustainable future for all.
We collaborate with local stakeholders including government bodies, urban authorities, community leaders, and environmental experts and build partnerships to ensure shared ownership and long-term commitment.
We organize thorough site assessments to determine ecological suitability, community needs, and restoration potential. We also use scientific and local knowledge to design context-specific interventions.
We implement projects through a multi-stakeholder approach involving technical experts, volunteers, and the local community. We ensure transparency, sustainability, and ecological integrity throughout the process.
We transfer project ownership to the local community by building capacity, providing tools, and encouraging stewardship. We promote continuous care, monitoring, and adaptive management.
Our environmental conservation programs focus on creating urban forests and restoring lakes and ponds. We develop dense, native green spaces in cities using the Miyawaki method. Through our lake restoration efforts, we improve water quality, enhance biodiversity, and support groundwater recharge.

Vazhamarathu Kuttai, located along Rajiv Gandhi Road in Paiyanur, was once choked with invasive weeds and silt, losing its capacity as a vital water source. Through a community-based restoration effort in 2022, the pond underwent complete rejuvenation, including weed removal, de-silting, bund strengthening, creation of nesting islands, and construction of recharge pits. These initiatives have revived the pond’s water-holding capacity, enhanced groundwater recharge, and created a thriving habitat for birds, amphibians, and local flora and fauna—transforming it into a sustainable biodiversity hotspot.
An urban pond in rapidly developing South Chennai, faced severe degradation due to invasive weeds, garbage dumping, and weak embankments, impacting biodiversity and water quality. Through a comprehensive restoration, including removal of 3.5 tones of invasive weeds, 4 tones of non-biodegradable waste, construction and strengthening of embankments, and protective fencing, the pond’s water-holding capacity and resilience have significantly improved. Today, it provides habitat for local flora and fauna, enhances groundwater recharge, and serves as a sustainable, aesthetic water resource for the community, benefitting over 4,500 residents.
Gangaiamman Pond, nestled in Polachery, South Chennai, faced years of neglect, weak embankments, and silt accumulation. Urbanization and population growth had shifted attention away from this vital waterbody. With the support of EFI, Chengalpattu District Collectorate, Pearltri Foundation, the pond underwent a complete restoration. Silt removal, bund leveling, and embankment strengthening enhanced its resilience and water-holding capacity. Ramps and protective fencing were installed to ensure safe access for people and cattle. Community engagement initiatives, including volunteer clean-ups, removed over 150 kg of waste and raised local awareness. Now, Gangaiamman Pond is a thriving ecosystem, providing water, supporting biodiversity, and reconnecting the community with nature.
